Responsibilities

– Report to Operations Manager
– 6 staff in team
– Contribute to 3PL and logistics performance management, focusing on metrics/scorecards, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and corrective actions for the designated area.
– Design and implement regular 3PL facility audits and governance capabilities.
– Work with the global procurement team to execute the strategic and tactical 3PL service procurement plan in Japan, ensuring smooth processes to prevent delays and lost opportunities.
– Manage inbound/outbound logistics, planning, shipping, warehouse operations, tax/import/export duties, and customs clearance while collaborating with business group managers to ensure on-time delivery.
– Enhance product traceability and recall processes to provide a best-in-class response to product quality and food safety issues. Ensure adherence to company’s operational and quality policies, procedures, and audits.
– Foster professional, transparent relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, service providers, importers, global suppliers, and local shipping operators.
– Ensure logistics operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. Oversee health and safety programs, providing training on safe handling practices. Stay informed on industry and government regulations, including environmental contribution requirements.

Qualifications

– 10 years of experience in logistics operations within the Japanese market.
– Undergraduate or master’s degree, with a focus on business, supply chain, or logistics preferred.
– Expertise in handling imported products in Japan.
– Familiar with cold chain warehousing, cold chain ocean logistics, and distribution management.
– Knowledge of 3PL operations, with a preference for experience in the FMCG or fresh produce industries.
– Experience with SAP ECC or S4 systems.
– Ability to develop, discuss, and implement a wide range of topics, from distribution strategy to tactical execution.
– Strong leadership and change management skills to build and lead a high-performing team in a dynamic business environment.
